Canal Fields Play Area includes the removal of
some pieces of existing equipment and design, supply and
installation of new wood based equipment which must cater for the
age range 2-14. With a preference for a main play feature that can
be used by several children at a time. The specification approach
was to ask tenderers to base the overall design on local history
and to provide all the equipment, installation and safety
inspection for the total budget available.
The current play area in Canal Fields contains equipment that is
over 25 years. The play experience is not what it should be. The
lack of inclusive play equipment means that the play are is not
suitable for certain residents within Dacorum.
A Councillor from Berkhamsted Town Council (BTC) was invited to
join the evaluation team, as BTC had expressed an interest in the
play facilities on this site.
This tender was advertised as an Open (below WTO threshold) process
on the Supply Hertfordshire portal and on Contracts Finder in
accordance with the Public Contract Regulations 2015.

The decision to spend part of the latest ARG grant on a range of business support activities.
The aim is to use part of ARG to deliver long term changes that will support the recovery going forward – particularly in the short term in line with the funding deadline rather than short term quick fixes provided through the grants.
It is proposed to allocate an Economic Recovery Fund of £500k for business support activities arising from proposals put forward from the Council’s partners on the Economic Recovery Board, and a further £250k to specific recovery activities led by the Council. £610k will be held back in the event of a further lockdown, to be used as cash grants.
The reason is to ensure ARG is spent by 31st March 2022 and is used to provide longer term and sustainable support to businesses.
7 sites have been identified for housing
development opportunities (see ORDS sheet in delegated
report).
Planning approval for new housing has been achieved on all of the
sites.
The intention is to demolish ahead of appointing the new build
contractors all to ensure firstly they are emptied in good time for
development and that they do not attract anti-social behaviour
whilst the new build contractors are being procured.
